What DocPatch does
- Converts Markdown documentation to Docusaurus, MkDocs or GitBook output.
- Preserves links, bold and italic formatting, nested headings (H1 to H3) and tables verbatim: they are carried through as-is, not rewritten or restructured.
- Translates frontmatter (metadata) fields between formats where a real equivalent exists, for example a Jekyll permalink field becomes a Docusaurus slug field.
- Drops a frontmatter field that has no equivalent in the target format instead of mistranslating it.
What DocPatch does not do
- Accept HTML, PDF, Word, Confluence or Notion as input.
- Produce PDF or HTML output.
Not available today
- Sphinx output
- Jekyll output
- HTML input
- A Confluence integration
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can DocPatch convert?
It converts Markdown into Docusaurus, MkDocs or GitBook output. Markdown is the only input format.
Does DocPatch rewrite my Markdown content?
No. Links, bold and italic formatting, nested headings (H1 to H3) and tables are carried through as-is. Only frontmatter fields are translated, and only where the target format has a real equivalent.
What happens to frontmatter fields with no equivalent?
They are dropped rather than mistranslated.
Can DocPatch convert HTML, PDF, Word, Confluence or Notion content?
No. It does not accept those as input and does not produce PDF or HTML output.
